That'll teach 'em

Those pesky "boffins" at Policy Exchange have suffered further repercussions as a result of their Cities Unlimited report.

Many may have thought the fuss has died down after David Cameron's London-based friends called for the North to be closed and the fine people of Sunderland shipped South.

But now our elected councillors are back from their Summer break and they mean business. Or a lack of it.

Newcastle opposition leader Nick Forbes has placed a motion before full council which will not only transform the council into official arch-enemies of Policy Exchange, it will if passed also ban the council from ever offering consultation work to the think-tank.

And yes, it is unlikely chief executive Ian Stratford was going to pick up the phone and ask for housing advice, but Nick's right. You can never be too careful...
