Welcome to my blog about Poles

By Kasia Bobrzak on Oct 28, 08 03:12 PM

I would like to welcome you all to my Blog about Poles in North East.

I was born in 1968 in Poland in Gdansk, where Lech Walensa used to work in the same shipyard together with my dad.

I have been living in North East since 1990 and like all Poles came to this country to work and create better life for myself.

For almost 15 years I didn't speak polish and I had no contact with any Poles.

When Poland joined EU In 2004 borders to the UK opened up and Polish people started to arrive in North East. Longing for polish friends I did get involved with Polish community and started to get to know them again, meet them, and help them.

Now I am living very closely with polish community. Together with my polish friends I have set up first polish website in North East to provide information services to Poles, I also helped to set up polish society in North East PEGAZ and I am constantly helping to organize polish events.

I will be writing about Poles in our region, about their lives and their aspirations, about their problems and their successes. I would like to let you all know what they think about our region and about English people.

This blog will be bilingual so my polish friends, who do not know the language yet, can also read and comment in this blog. I hope this blog will be interesting to you and to all your friends.
