Ethical events for the budding Eco-ista

By Anna Heywood on Nov 9, 08 01:16 PM

You wait an age for an ethical event to happen and then two come along on the same day!
This coming Saturday (15th November) will see two events taking place in Newcastle and I still haven't made my mind up which one I'm going to. I don't think the purse strings could handle both.

The Alternative Christmas Gift Fair will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Jesmond, between 10am and 2pm.

There will fairly and ethically traded goods, Christmas cards and plenty of present ideas, so it's a great place to do you Christmas shopping.
Admission is free and stall holders include Oxfam, PeopleTree, Traidcraft and many more.

Just down the road, at Northumbria University Students' Union, they will be hosting the Affordable Vintage Fashion Fair. This is the first time its come to Newcastle and looks set to be a great event for fashionistas and eco-istas alike.
The fair will run from 10am till 4pm.

The event will feature 40+ stalls of mens and womens vintage clothing at very affordable prices, re-worked, hand made clothes and jewellery, crafts, homewares, sale rails from dealers, wholesalers, local shops and up and coming designers.

In addition there will be:
+ A unique 'MAKE, CREATE & CUSTOMISE' area.
+ VINTAGE TEA PARTY selling very yummy cupcakes.
+ VINTAGE STYLE ADVISORS who will be on hand to help you pick out the perfect outfit to suit your budget...

Hmmm, maybe I can make it to both after all.

Anna
Thanks for mentioning the Vintage Fashion fair. It was an enormous success! More than 1000 people came through the doors. It was fabulous. The quality of the vintage clothes was incredible, the university buzzed all day.
We have already started to plan our next one in February.
