Post sense?
Government saves post offices. That is how ministers will hope the headlines will read over its decision to re-award a key benefits contract to the Post Office.
But the Post Office card account (POCA) used by pensioners and benefit claimants to claim money over the counter was actually put out to tender by the Government in 2006.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) had consistently claimed it was required by law to tender competitively for the product to ensure value for money.
But yesterday the Government cancelled the unfinished procurement exercise and awarded the Post Office with a new contract to contract the POCA.
Right that makes sense them. Anyone with views, feel free to post your feelings.
