Ethical Christmas - stockings and stocking fillers

By Anna Heywood on Dec 1, 08 05:31 PM

The last day of my ethical christmas special takes a look at stocking fillers.
View the gallery of gifts below and read on for more information about the presents.
Lastly, have a very happy christmas.

1. Fairtrade Large Christmas stocking, £5.99 from Ethicalsuperstore.com
Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the traditional Christmas stocking, and this Fair Trade Labelled stocking can be hung over your fire with a clear conscience.

Fill it with bags of Fairtrade Coins of Chocolate balls wrapped in Christmas pudding foil and traditional gold chocolate coins.

2. Divine Chocolate Christmas Puddings (90g), £2.20 from Traidcraft
3. Divine Gold coins (80g), £2.20 from Traidcraft

4. Fairtrade Grasshopper Instrument, £1.00 from Traidcraft
Drag the stick across the bumps on this hand-carved wooden percussion instrument to produce a grasshopper's whirr. At just £1 this is a real bargain.

5. Fairtrade purses for boys and girls
Girl's flower purse, £3.50 and Boy's Crazy bug key ring purses (pack of 2),£3.00.
Both from Traidcraft

6. Fairtrade tape measures (Bee and Cat), £3.50 each from Traidcraft
These cute little tape measures will fit in to pockets and from experience provide hours of fun measuring everything and everything in the house - how about Dad's waistline after Christmas dinner?

7. Wooden Train, £12 from Traidcraft
A beautifully simple and superbly hand-crafted pull-along wooden train from an organisation in Thailand which preserves traditional craft skills. The carts are linked with cord while the front of the train can be taken to pieces.
This train is sure to be much loved gift for younger children.

8. ElliePoo Planter, £4.95 Oxfam stores including Acorn Road Jesmond.
This fab little box comes complete with a Christmas Tree seed and elephant dung compost to grow your own Christmas tree.
Ellie, my niece aged 3 will love planting this and waiting for her own Christmas tree to grow next year.

9. Recycled Stationery Gift Set, £1.75 from Ethicalsuperstore.com
Ensure that the children write their thank you notes in style this year.
Made from recycled maps, this unique writing set includes ten envelopes and ten sheets of writing paper.

10. Santa Claus Hand Squeeze Torch, £4.99 from Ethicalsuperstore.com
Whether for reading under the covers or making fun shapes on the wall every child should have a torch, and this Santa Claus Torch is a great eco-friendly gadget for the job this Christmas.
