How to view our golf coverage
IF you like golf, even if you are not a member of a club, there is a lot to look out for with the various ncjMedia platforms in 2009.
Throughout all the titles, our aim is to to appeal not only to club members but also to the golfers happy to pay as they play on a regular basis at clubs of their choosing.
According to the English Golf Union, there are two million golfers in the country happy to do their own thing. This is what ncjMedia are doing . . .
:: Teeing Off, a two-page golf spread, is in The Journal every Thursday.
:: The Timmy Tee column every week is part of the Sunday Sun golf section.
:: The De Vere Slaley Hall golf coach, Sam Oliver, writes a golf instruction column in the Evening Chronicle every Friday night.
:: You can watch Dr John's golf instruction videos for free on The Journal's website any time you like.
:: The monthly Golf North East magazine is available free to all golf club members and on sale elsewhere.
:: If a member of a golf club wins his men's club championship, he earns free entry into the 2009 Journal Champion of Champions tournament at Slaley Hall on September 6, which carries a ã500 first prize. Slaley not only make the course available for for free, but also lay on a two-course lunch for all the competitors.
:: In another free-to-play-in annual event, The Journal Dream Team, an invitational side, play a challenge match against a golf league. In 2009, it's against the North Durham Union at Durham City on July 6, when each of the union's 25 clubs will be represented.
