Northumbria and Newcastle do City proud - the ethical awards night in photographs
I feel so proud every year; seeing Students' Unions around the country vie to outdo each other in the green stakes.

This year 79 unions around the country took part in the Sound Environmental Impact Awards, which equates to over 4 million students having been involved, so far, since the schemes inception.
The event finale seemed such a way away from the long nights I spent all those years ago, writing begging letters to organisations and traipsing down to London to meet them, in the hope of getting their backing to set this all up.
Our host for the night was Hardeep Singh Kohli, who readers may know from the One Show on the BBC.
Once again Northumbria and Newcastle Students' Unions did the city and I proud.
The Sound Environmental Impact Awards sprung out of my time as a student at Northumbria, so I am always pleased when they do well.
Northumbria walked away with a silver award and Newcastle with gold.
See a few photographs of the night including Hardeep and both Northumbria and Newcastle SUs. You also get to see me taking part in a magic trick!

Here I am, picking a card, with Lara Vickery, International Development Manager for the Co-operative Group - one of the main sponsors of the awards.

Yes, he picked my card! Again with Laura, Catherine Dishington Ethical Supply Chain Co-ordinator for NUS Services Ltd who run the awards scheme and rep from Office Depot, the other key sponsor.
