Over to Hugh
Super-quango The Northern Way has a new man in charge, the North East's own Hugh Morgan Williams.
If you don't know who he is or what the Way is, then there's a good chance you are:
a) a standard representation of the UK population and,
b) not a committed regional affairs reader.
Shame on you.
Mr Williams is one of those people covered by journalist back-up phrase number 32: "business leaders".
And does a remarkably good job of it. I should point out at here he does a column for The Journal, but is not a member of the staff. Far too busy for that.
Mr Williams other roles include being chairman of the Washington-based Canford group and a senior member of the CBI, as well as heading up the North East Economic Forum. Which means he thinks in a regional way.
The Northern Way doesn't.
Campaigning on behalf of the three Northern regional development agencies, points if you can name them all, the Way has been accused in The Journal of carrying a Manchester bias.
Not in a sinister way, if there is such a thing, but because Manchester and Leeds have more people and make more money.
The off-shot of that is that Newcastle gets overlooked a bit, something I'm sure our man in The Way will be keen to address.
