Happy green halloween

By Anna Heywood on Oct 30, 09 09:52 PM

Dear Anna,
Please can you suggest how I could make Halloween Night environmentally friendly?
Yours
Beth Symon, Jesmond

Hi Beth,
I sure can. Turn off the lights, go to bed early and pretend you're out.
Happy Halloween
Anna

Sorry couldn't resist! You could buy mini green and blacks chocolate to hand out but these are still pricy. I pompously handed out satsumas made to look like Pumpkins last year. It turns out that kids hate fruit as I found most of them discarded in the street the following morning. Still I thought they looked cool - I just drew a pumpkin face on the skin with a marker.
Make sure you get some soup out of your pumpkin.
Lastly see what costumes you can come up with yourselves from a jumble sale of exisiting stock - the problem being that you're up against amazing looking costumes in the supermarkets that cost next to nothing and which do you think kids want? Your hand made effort or some super bright witcy thing?
Take my advice - pretend to be out.
Or perhaps really be out - with me and a bottle of red! Kids? Isn't that what Dad's are there to do.
