EU having a joke
Do you know who the Belgium Prime Minister is? And who is Baroness Ashton.
Turns out after a dinner, the leaders of the European Union have choosen the pair to be the face of Europe on the world stage.
The Belgium guy, whose name escapes me, is the president! And Baroness Ashton is the EU foreign minister but seems to have been a Blair crony.
But we never elected them. We are a democracy aren't we...

Is it only me, or is this system highly reminiscent of the "Buggin's turn" of selecting mayors which we used to have. You know, the councillors put their heads together and chose the oldest one with the least enemies to be mayor. It's democracy Jim but not as we know it.
