Insert "cheeky" joke here

By Adrian Pearson on Dec 1, 09 02:31 PM

The Cheeky Girls graced South Tyneside last week as they led the Christmas lights switch on. Overshadowed somewhat by "that Joe from X-factor" sending a special message for his fans South of the river.
Hmmm. What then do you offer two D-list celebs in order to make their trip worthwhile?
Well, how does dinner with a South Tyneside Tory councillor grab you?

Yes, Monica and Gabriela Irimia were treated to a slap-up plate of Boldon's finest as councillor David Potts pulled out the stops.
From what I hear customers at the Red Lion were kept away from the happy trio as they discussed David's politics and I guess pretty much anything else that sprang to mind.
Speaking as someone who has enjoyed more than the odd pint of Black Sheep in the Lion I'm sure the girls had a great time.

Apparently the meeting of minds was a very specific request from David who insisted he be allowed to entertain the girls and show them that famous Tyneside hospitality.
Since he stepped down as the Tory candidate to take on Alistair Darling in the next General Election I guess he just needs something to fill his time.

You are a cheeky boy, Adrian.

Also: is there any hint of what Mr Lembit Opik thought of this meeting?
