Association of South North East Councils
Everyone's favourite Association of North East Councils is undergoing some not quite subtle changes.
It would seem from the behind the scenes gossip picked up at Anec's Gateshead summit that new leader Paul Watson is taking the Association in a radical new direction.
Er, the South.
Yup, the Sunderland boss is apparently fed-up with the Tyneside focus of former Gateshead Anec leader Mick Henry and is intent on looking to the South of the region for inspiration.
For the most part councillors at the Sage on Friday were worried about an even more "Southern" problem - Whitehall's spending cuts.
So in an effort to impress them with Labour's commitment to the region, guest speaker Nick brown announced a special video message from the prime minister.
Technical difficulties meant there was a slight delay in the video coming on screen.
Or as Nick put it: "We should have a message any minute now, unless Geoff and Patricia have ran off with it."
