Peter Lovenkrands: What a man
I don't think there is any other way to start this other than praising Peter Lovenkrands for his determination and spirit. He must be feeling so much pain and anguish following the loss of his father last week, but what a fitting tribute it is to his father (a big football fan) by scoring the equalising goal in a very important game at the top of the table. Peter was clearly close to tears when he scored, and events like this put all of football in perspective when you've got overpaid primadonnas asking for a winter break. To play just three days after one of the worst of his life is a testament to his character.
The game itself was an entertaining affair (well if you're a neutral anyway...I can't have been the only one that cringed every time our full backs got skinned, again) and a draw was probably the fairest result all things considered. Yes, perhaps we should have had a penalty when the obnxious Olsson made no attempt for the ball and sent Carroll flying, but that aside they dominated for large spells and the midfield belong to the Baggies.
They can play some nice football, but they can also rough it up with the best of them. I lost count of the amount of times that they hacked down a black and white shirt with no attempt made for the ball. Jonas was particularly vulnerable to their minging tactics of stopping our attacks. One challenge in particular was lucky not to get a straight red when whoever it was ploughed through the back of Gutierrez with two feet. A horrible challenge. Then that lumbering plank Bednar managed to wipe out Taylor when the ball was long gone, and somehow got away with it by limping away himself.
That aside, West Brom looked a cut above what we've played this season and passed us off the park at times. We had our moments, and so did they so I think all in all a draw is a fair result. We have to start picking up wins again soon though, we haven't won a league game in almost a month, so we must start turning these draws into wins.

Completely agree, you could see throughout how much pain Lovenkrands was in but he never lost focus for one minute. My best wishes go out to him and his family.
