Retail Therapy?
With the risk of sounding about 80, I'm going to have a bit of a rant about rubbish customer service.
I was at the supermarket last night when I got a bit lost looking for the tinned button mushrooms. I approached the nearest member of staff for help, but received a far from satisfactory response.
Me: "Please can you tell me where the tinned button mushrooms are?"
Tall, Annoyed-Looking Teenage Boy: "I'm not sure where they are."
Me: "No, I'm not sure either - that's why I'm asking you."
He did go off to speak to a senior member of staff with the hope of finding them for me (ridiculous) but by the time he'd returned I'd located them...
"In front of you all along then eh?". To say I wanted to throw the tin at his head is an understatement.
It was even better at the pharmacy a couple of weeks ago....
Me: "Do you know where the false nails are?"
Rude Girl: "No. We don't do them."
Needless to say I eventually spotted them. I went and found said girl, frogmarched her over to said item and merely pointed at them. Perhaps a step too far...Eeeee, whatever happened to good customer service?

So you thought it was OK to be cheeky and rude to the supermarket assistant just because he didn't know off hand where the button mushrooms were. He can't be expected to know where *everything* is in the shop. More so if he is a new member of staff. He did the right think and went and asked another member of staff where they were for you. It's people like you who annoy me.
Oh please. It's staff like this that need to understand that they are very lucky to have a job in this current climate. They should be as helpful and polite as they can be to all customers, without handing out 'clever' remarks.
He simply could have said: "No, sorry madam, I don't, but let me have a look" like any other decent human being would have, regardless of working there or not. And if he couldn't find them explain that he will go and ask his supervisor.
Common decency it's called, never mind his job role.
Christine, Mieka is calling it "ridiculous" because he went off to check with another member staff. Sounds to me like the Mieka was rude and impatient.
