Newcastle destroy Cardiff
Well that was easier than we thought it was going to be wasn't it? The general consensus was that it'll probably be a narrow game, and it was likely only a goal would separate the two teams if at all. How wrong we were.
That was one of the most dominating performances we have seen in years at SJP. We absolutely pummeled them. So far this season, we have been watching grinded out performances and not too many convincing displays. But with a midfield consisting of Routledge, Guthrie, Nolan and Gutierrez, Cardiff absolutely cacked their pants. It's amazing what we can do with two wingers. Something we haven't had since Milner and Zog, and even they were hot and cold. For me, this has to be our starting middle 4. Especially at home. It's fine to be a bit more cautious away from home, but against Leicester we had Noland, Butt and Smith on the pitch. Where's the creativity there? If we can go out and attack these teams, then it should be an issue of when we win rather than if we win more often than not.
There was also a tidy debut from Fitz Hall at the back who did what he needed to, and also got an assist! Big Mike (Williamson, not Ashley) had another very good game at the back and is proving to be a shrewd purchase. He seems to win every ball in the air. Someone like him could be very useful if we do go up when we play anti-football teams like Stoke and Hull.
Many are saying that this month will be crucial in the promotion race (then again so was October, November December...). I think we have another 6 games before the daffies come out in March. 18 points would be lovely thanks.
