Vote Jaffa

By Tony Jeffries on Feb 24, 10 03:07 PM

THOSE of you who read this blog regularly will know how nervous I've been about dancing live on TV this week - but after the last few days I now realise it's going to be even tougher than I thought.

On Saturday I'll be appearing live on BBC1's Let's Dance for Sport Relief at 7.15pm. I agreed to do it because it's for a great charity but the problem is, I can't dance!

I watched the programme last Saturday and the standard was pretty high so I knew then I had a lot to live up to.

And now I'm down in London for a week working with the choreographer on my moves, I'm bricking it even more!

It's a boxing special and I'm teaming up with the world super-middleweight champion Carl Froch and two ex-fighters, Jonny Nelson and Duke McKenzie, who are both commentators nowadays. The winners on the night go through to the final on March 13.

We're training nine to five everyday. We're all quite fit, which is an advantage, but it's tough to remember all the moves. It's only a two-minute dance but it feels like a long time, there's so much going on.

Yesterday we went into the BBC studio for the first time and tried out the dance on the set and it all went totally to pot.

It was really different to doing it in rehearsals in front of mirrors so we had to go right back to the beginning and learn it again.

Hopefully I'll have cracked it by Saturday but we'll have to wait and see.

I found out what dance I was doing at the end of last week but I'm not allowed to tell anyone so you'll just have to tune in and see for yourself.

My big aim is I just not to finish last in this competition. The person who gets the most phone votes wins, so as long as I don't fall on my backside in the middle of my routine, I need you all to vote for me!

It's going to be really nerve-wracking, though, because of the number of people watching. Last year there were 7m viewers. When I fight on Sky it's a few hundred thousand. I'd rather fight in front of 7m people than dance in front of them any day of the week!
