We're in - with a huge black and white set
We're in the Theatre now. When I say in the Theatre I mean the set is being put on to the stage.
This set is HUGE and it was originally built for Les Dawson.
By pure coincidence for us, at the end of Act 1 the set is completely black and white.
Maybe they knew it would end up in Newcastle one day with the colours of the Toon Army.
We have two ships, a rocking cabin, a spaceship, four giant skulls, three dinosaurs, a sea monster, 3D, two skeletons, a huge finale, a wonderful cloud land dream set and a wire which allows Danny Adams (Robinson Crusoe) to fly across the audience.
Our lighting designer Ben Cracknell has 19 moving lights in the auditorium, 18 on stage, 6 dazzling strobe effects and over 140 metres of sparkle strobes.
All the songs in Robinson Crusoe and the Caribbean Pirates have been originally written by Olly Ashmore who has written the music for the past four Theatre Royal pantomimes.
They make such a difference to the show as they not only drive the action forward, they are so catchy you can't stop singing them!
